Hello all,
I tried this yesterday, but I think I nuked my own message - an analog guy in a digital age...
Just want to say hello, and that this promises to be an interesting and informative site. There are a lot - a lot - of very good musicians playing Celtic music here in Pittsburgh. I hope most of them discover this site and join in.
Thanks to all who have been kind and supportive to Larry and I as we endevor to launch Laughrey Connolly. We worked a lot as an acoustic duo in our college days (60's kids) and for awhile afterwards, but put it aside in 1975 until March 2004 when we decided to go at it again. We both love Celtic folk music and were surprised to discover an interest in it around town. Thanks especially to Diane Byrnes, Dave Regan at Harp and Fiddle, Molly Flynn, Terry Griffith, Chuck Bowen, all the guys in the Rivermen, and absolutely everyone at the Pour House for support and help in getting this going. Thanks to our better halves - Cathy and Ginny, for actually pushing us out the door and onto a stage again after all those years. Also - thank you Bob and John for the opportunity to jam with you a few weeks ago - that was fun and I hope it happens again. And many thanks to all of you who come out to listen (especially you patient folks who endured us trying to sing through bad flu last Fri at the Pour House - did you note our bass player Duane sitting and playing at a table quite remote fom us?). All of you have been so helpful, and it's been a wild one year ride from Molly's open stages to local pub gigs, a cd, and shows at the Allegheny County Memorial Day Parade and Pgh Irish Festival. 2006 looks challenging and fun. Besides the local gigs, we're actually heading to NY to play this spring.
Happy New Year to everyone. We look forward to meeting you out and about.
Cheers,
Christopher
