Hi all,
Just wanted to Drop in and introduce myself. My name is Shawn, I am an EMT and currently live in Shaler. I am also a Volunteer Firefighter. I do some singing and I am interested in possibly putting together a small Irish ensemble sometime in the near future.
I'm happy to find this board _________________ Shawn MacIntyre |

Matt and All, A trivia question in the ongoing win a gill on Gabriel contest. The question is why does Luke Kelly change one proper name in Tommy Makem's song " Farwell to Carlingford" ? Both Luke's and Tommy's versions are available at YouTube. The lyrics are at Makem.com. The question again, is why did Luke Kelly change one proper name in his version of the song ? The rules of the contest are as follows the first person to give me the correct answer to the question wins a dram of her / his favorite spirits ( within in reason folks ) or a glass of beer on me. Contest entries should be delivered on August 24th at Paddy's Pour House in Carnegie. Email entries are not valid. Entries delivered in any other fashion or at any other time are equally invalid. Finally Jack Puskar, who will be performing that night, gets first try. If Jack answers correctly then the next correct answer also wins a dram. The previous question was "name the English commander- in-chief at the time of the battle of Flodden Field which was lamented in the tune and song " The Floo'ers o' the Forest ? " Not the battlefield commander, but the overall commander. No points or prizes, but the question is still open. Good luck to all. Ni Sarose , Ni Soichan, Red Gabe Ross |

Well, I hear tell that there may be an influx of new faces on the forum up coming. Please, feel free to join in. We have been a bit stale as of late. perhaps we just need new members to liven us up! As we all know Pittsburgh is a place that we tend to hide in our alcoves or corners oftown. We may not all know what's happening everywhere. Where the latest and greatest music, store, or way to help or be informed might be.
Come on in and have some fun too! _________________ Ireland: The only country in the world where you can get drunk and not wake up with a guilty conscience. ~John Huston~ |
