For those of you who didn't hear Char and I are going to be Grandparents again. Number 7

I guess this would go under personal news.

As I have shared with most of you last Friday, my dad is going into surgery in the morning. (Thursday am) I just wanted you all to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. It is part "exploratory" and part the possibility that they will move his small intestine to another direct connextion into his stomache. If they open him up and find that the scar tissue is as hard as cement then they will just close him up and he will live have to live with a liquid diet and monthly botox injections and other procedures that will not be comfortable.. he won't be able to eat any real food again. he is 55 that would really suck. plain and simple.

I'll let you all know here how the surgery goes. Thanks. If anyone is up around 7 or 8am... Dad's surgery is at 7am.. I will be there and up.. maybe till who knows when. Feel free to call. the waiting room is on the floor that allows cell phone usage.

Just wanted to let you all know that Dad's surgery was fine. The problem's weren't as bad as it could have been. He was only in for 3 hours. I don't know how long he will be in recovery... but at least he will be able to eat real food again!

Oct 21st I'm looking to get a gang of people together to go to the South Park Haunted House. A meet up at a pub first, < Either the Pour House or Mulaney's Harp and Fiddle, someplace everyone knows and can find> Then off to the Haunted house with a back to the pub afters to celebrate your survival of the trip with a fine ale or warming shot of Jamiesons.

Please Email me if your interested. I want to try and get us a group rate if we have enough people interested. Also if you can give a ride or are interested and need a ride, please email me so we can co-ordinate travel by locale.

I'd give you my cell number, but I've misplaced my phone somewhere in the house. I went to the farmers market last week and haven't seen it since I put the groc away. I'm expecting it to turn up in the potato bin or the fruit cellar any day now.

PS: Costumes are ok with the venue, but they ask no full face masks. Also if you have an alternate sujjestion for the place to visit please feel free to offer it up for consideration.

In other news, I am sad to report that after a long struggle with a massive lymphoma Abernathy the Rat passed away yesturday evening.

He was a good rat and a wonderful companion. He will be sorely missed.

Heeelloooooo everyone! I know that most of you haven't seen or heard from me since I left Pittsburgh in August and I apologize for that. You see, the thing about medical school is that its kind of....HARD. Ridiculously so. I guess they expect you to have to work to become a doctor. Who knew?

I'm doing well here but am extremely busy so I haven't had much time to keep up. I sincerely miss the music scene in Pittsburgh, though Carbon Leaf is coming through Charlottesville this week so at least there is that. I haven't been able to get back much to the 'burgh but hopefully one of these weekends I can come in when there's a great concert going on. I'm hoping to be there for 4 or 5 days over the Christmas break but I doubt most people will want to go to a bar, or that my mom would appreciate me saying "Ah mom, sorry, I'm not spending Christmas with you. I'm going to the pub".

I will DEFINITELY be in town for the St. Patty's parade so if nothing else, I'll see all of you there. If anyone wants to get ahold of me, my email is

I am forever grateful for those of you that have been sending prayers and positive thoughts my way. Believe me when I tell you that they are working - and yet I am always in need of more. I survived a weekend of food and some drinks. I should be ok for a little bit. We'll see. But the price they want you to pay for pills!!!!! I don't care if it's the little purple pill, it can stay at the pharmacy!!!!!!!!
