Is é do bheatha,
I'm not sure if my post here is appropriate because I'm not a band but a single act. Not to take anything away from the bands but some of the best Irish music in Pittsburgh is performed by single acts. There are several of us performing weekly in both small and large venues around town. It used to be that all the Irish music in Pittsburgh was done by single acts and then a few bands, duos and trios came about.
For many years I have done Irish ballads and only Irish ballads. In the last year I have gone back to the music I did before I discovered Irish music and brought back some favorites from the 60's, 70's and 80's.
I have one CD that I have been hawking for the last 10 years (milk it to death before moving on) titled "For My Grandfathers". You can hear cuts from the CD at Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | (there is a link from my web page)
My usual hang outs are Paddy's Pour House in Carnegie, Mullaney's Harp and Fiddle in the strip, Molly Brannigan's in Mt Lebanon, Kelly's in Beaver, Bobbie Magees in Monroeville, The Claddagh in the South Side and Mogie's in Lower Burrel. You will find me performing in any of these Irish pubs and my schedule is on my web page, Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |
Speaking of the web page, the Pittsburgh Irish network, Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | is a great source for Irish related information in Pittsburgh. Check it out often. There are pictures of the entire St. Patrick's Parade there also.
This forum has great potential and I hope to talk to many of you here and share opinions, recomendations for music and discuss Irish music in general.
Hope to see you at my gigs soon.
Terry

Terry,
you are very welcome here. to tell you the truth, I had a spot for you and many other single acts at one point. I accidentally deleted everyone. I was still getting the hang of this forum. I just haven't had the chance to insert everyone again yet.
We would love any additions that you add. and have always enjoyed hearing you play. It was a fine time down at the pour house Friday! Nice to see you on so soon! here's to you! _________________ Ireland: The only country in the world where you can get drunk and not wake up with a guilty conscience. ~John Huston~ |

Sometimes the last set is my favorite. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good crowd like you guys that get into the music and sing along and make requests but sometimes I like the quiet stuff too. There were several people who stayed that seemed to want something a little deeper than the up-beat clap along songs that everybody does and I can bring out the slower more melodic songs. That was the last set last night. Some folks didn't want the night to end and I played through the chairs being stacked on the empty tables. It was a night like old times. _________________ There's a Unicorn that's hangin in whats known as father's room.... |

Thanks, Matt. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Then you can come to the Pour House tomorrow night or Saturday, April 8. Other than that you'll just have to come over to the house.
By the way, if anybody remembers Damon Griffith (AKA Big Daddy Bull Seal!) I'm jetting down to old Santa Fe to pay the lad a visit. With wife Sabrina and daughter Grannia, they are making an impact on that sleepy New Mexican town. He's even arranged a gig for his old man at a local pub. I'll take messages if anyone has a wish to pass along.
